Ornate grill

In movies you see interrogation rooms that have a one way glass. From the outside you can see inside but the people inside only see a mirror. This is an ancient version of creating a screen that allows you to observe without getting observed. In a grill like this, you can see outside but the other person can't see what is inside by controlling the light going in through this grill.
