King George was here

Someone told me that there used to be a statue of Lord Mountbatten in this canopy close to India Gate. Today I did a search on the internet and realized that there indeed used to be a statue here but not of Lord Mountbatten. It was a statue of King George which was moved to the coronation park in the 60s. Coronation park is the place from where the announcement was made that Delhi will replace Calcutta has the capital of India.
