I have spent a large part of my life living in Janak Puri and to go to central or South Delhi. we had to go throught Delhi Cantonment. Over there I saw a lot of army vehicles including these Tatra trucks and was always fascinated by them. The looked majestic with tyres almost as big as me. Now our Army Chief Gen. VK SIngh is saying these trucks are "sub-standard". I am no expert and won't know the difference between a standard or a sub standard truck, however there are a lot of people who claim to know more and all of them are saying that these trucks are the best of breed.
More than the quality of trucks, I am interested in the image of the army. Till a few years ago it was supposed to be the cleanest government organisation and in my opinion they were sort of "uncorruptable", an organisation I aspired to be a part of and I was not the only one. Over the years that faith has been shaken by the scandals that come out involving the army.
The people need to know the truth, however the accusation and counter accusations are a little bit too much for me. I don't know which ones are true and which ones are just opinions. Nonethless, they still malign the reputation the whole army. Specailly Gen. VK SIngh need to understand that there is no point in doing what he is doing. The government is the “creamy layer” of corrput people in India and if he throws a stone in sewage, his own uniform will get tainted.
