14% Extra

I post only one image at a time but today I had to make an exception. Last night after dinner, Mira remembered that today the moon will appear bigger so I went in to get my camera and tripod.

The super moon is the nature's way of giving us something extra - this time a 14% bigger moon.

This is the third time in the last one year that I have heard about the "Supermoon" which made me wonder what exactly it is ad why does it happen. In short it is an event when Full moon happens at the time when the moon is closest to earth (it has an elliptical orbit which means that when it is closest to earth its about 357,000 kilometers from us as compared to 406,000 km when it is the farthest. Read more at Wikipedia if you are also curious.

Most of the time I feel that the camera I have is absolutely fine and if there are any limitations, those are in my skills and not in equipment. However at times like this, I feel it would be better to have more zoom to get a bigger clearer shot.
