On the Independence Day there were 10 balloons and out of those, 8 managed to go up in air and the other two crash landed including one that eventually went up in flames after trying, unsucessfully, to fly. I guess it is a good enough average. The good thing about a hot air balloon, compared to a kite, is the lack of a string. No string means no one can cut it.
