Introduced in 1879 by the entrepreneur Lars Olsson Smith to take on the Stockholm's liquor marketing monopoly, “Absolut Renat Brännvin” means Totally Distillated Vodka. Considering it's price now, one would find it hard to believe that this was sold cheeper to attract buyers. One strong factor that enabled the company to sell it at a higher price is the famous and sucessful ad campaign.
