5th November 2008 :: Corona - The mexican beer

Carlsberg, Fosters and Budweiser may be available here but I know that all of them are brewed in India and are not likely to taste like the Foster's in Australia, the Budweiser in US and the Carlsberg in Denmark. Corona on the other hand is made in Mexico and will taste the same anywhere in the world. This in my opinion is a very important strategy is maintaining a brand. A brand is not just a product, it also is the perception people have of that product. People don't tattoo the Harley Davidson logo on their body because the motorcycle is such a good ride; they do it because what a Harley means to them. Among other things like freedom, breaking conventions, one thing Harley Davidson stands for is as a part of the American Dream. If a Hell's angel is told that his Harley has rolled out of a factory in China instead of Milwaukee, the bike will instantly lose its charm.

I guess the same is true for beer as well. If Corona was available at the same, or even slightly higher price than the other imported beer like Carlsberg and Budweiser, I would surely go for Corona. What is your take on this?
