9th March 2008 :: Project Airport 2 : Can't take off

The Centre has denied the permission to make an airport in Navi Mumbai basically because it means cutting down Mangroves. Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh is saying that they don't have any other place for it. My take on it? Two points

1. After the initial probles, the centre would agree (after exchange of some money or other favours. Remember when it come to people in influntial positions, rules are meant to be broken)
2. Not having land should be noone else's business but yours. The land you have at the existing airport has been encroached, if you could clear those encroachments (I am sure you can but don't want to, specialy at the cost of your votes), you won't need a new airport.
