Dadasaheb Phalke is regarded as the father of Indian Cinema and there is an organisation of film associations named after him - Dadasaheb Phalke Academy. On his birthday every year, they present awards to people for their contribution to Indian Cinema. While Salman Khan is busy playing a charity cricket match organised by Aamir Khan's son, Aamir Khan himself is going to attend an award function today. He is going to attend the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards which I had the privilege to attend exactly three years ago. These awards are organised by Federation of Western India CIne Employees.
Back then I was living in Bombay and my neighbor Late Mr. Aloke Dasgupta was awarded for his contribution to the field of cinematography. He was kind enough to give me an invitation. That was the first and so far my last experience in an event where film stars were present.
Among the people present there were Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt, Himesh Reshamiya, Manoj Kumar. You can check out the images from that award show here.
