Kingfisher and Gulmohur

One would think that the increasing urbanisation has killed or driven away all the birds but if you look around you do get to see a few odd native birds. Apart from crows, sparrows and pigeons, I have quite frequently seen kingfishers around our home. This is one sitting on the power cable with the gulmohur tree in the background.

To those who don't know, I feel in love with Gulmohur trees when I moved to Bombay. Every year in the month of April, the view from our home would change as all the gulmohur trees in Aarey colony would turn red. A drive to Powai during those days was also a memorable one as one could see endless Gulmohur trees on the way.
